Buongiorno a tutti! To my back unfolds a remarkable city. Let's discover the breathtaking art that sculptor and architect Gianlorenzo Bernini (1598–1680) left to Rome. Alongside, we will find evidence of his rivalry to Swiss-born Francesco Borromini (1599-1667). Together they shaped Rome in a unique baroque way. On top, the main scenes of Dan Brown's bestselling novel "Angels and Demons" are presented (any citations from the English paperback edition, Corgi Books). As such, our tour differs slightly from a regular sightseeing-trip. However, the main focus remains on Bernini and only facts are presented. I have no intention to join the discussion to which degree the novel's assertions are true and whether Bernini was in fact an "Illuminati". Trying to show Bernini's Rome is a daunting, if not impossible task due to the immense variety of output produced by him (and his associates). So, this tour does not claim completeness but combines an enjoyable walk with his greatest sculptures.
